KCR 2017

Invitation

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 73rd Korean Congress of Radiology (KCR 2017), it is my great honor and pleasure to invite you to KCR 2017 to be held from October 25 (Wed) to 28 (Sat), 2017 in Seoul, Korea.

It is the wish of the Korean Society of Radiology (KSR), the organizing society of KCR, to have the privilege to share its experience and knowhow with colleagues all over the world through KCR 2017. KSR opened its congress to the international audience in 2007, and since then, the number of sessions conducted in English has increased. While maintaining the high ratio of English sessions, KCR 2017 will concurrently run sessions in Korean throughout the congress period to propose a more balanced program for those who are interested in attending sessions conducted in Korean. This shows the dedication of KSR to share its expertise both within Korea as well as the rest of the world and grow together for the future of radiology.

With the start of my presidency, KSR coined a new slogan, K-RAD, which means Korean radiology, and identified three keywords that express the values that it would like to focus on for the advancement of the Society as well as the field of radiology in general: open, balanced and sustainable. “Open” stands for an open-minded approach toward communication and collaboration both in and outside radiology to promote innovation; “balanced” stands for the strive to close the gap between the subspecialties in radiology as well as the different regions and the urban and rural areas; lastly and most importantly, “sustainable” stands for the need to prepare for change in today’s unfavorable environment at the level of the Society, scientific research and the field of radiology in general.

To achieve these goals, the Organizing Committee is designing the best possible program with high quality scientific sessions that will provide a great opportunity for all participants to keep up-to-date with the latest research findings. KCR 2017 is planning to invite 41 world-renowned scholars from 10 countries along with distinguished radiology experts from Korea. Among them, Dr. Richard L. Baron (The University of Chicago Medicine) will give the Congress Lecture at the Opening Session, and Drs. Bernd Hamm (Charité University Hospital Berlin) and Tae-Hwan Lim (University of Ulsan College of Medicine) will speak at the Plenary Lectures.

Last but not least, in addition to providing a significant platform for exchanging valuable ideas, KCR 2017 will offer its participants a chance to socialize and interact with colleagues and friends from all parts of the world.

I believe that KCR 2017 will bring innovation and further advancement in the scientific level and quality of the study of radiology. In this regard, I extend my heartfelt invitation to you to join us at KCR 2017 in Seoul during the beautiful season of October. I am looking forward to seeing you at the congress.

Sincerely yours,

Seung Hyup Kim, MD, PhD
